What one sitting is like

Each sitting runs the exam's parts in order on their own timers: Section I (45 multiple-choice, 60 minutes), Section II (3 free-response, 135 minutes), with the 10-minute break after Section I. Mark for Review, the option eliminator, highlights and notes are on hand, as in Bluebook.

Free-response answers are typed, as in Bluebook, and each one is estimated row by row against the question's scoring guidelines.

Your report gives an estimated AP score from 1 to 5 and the composite behind it, multiple choice by unit, and every free-response question with the points earned and missed. College Board publishes no cut scores, so the 1–5 score is our estimate.

Your report
Your report opens the moment you hand the test in: your score, a section-by-section breakdown, and anything still being scored, named and added as it arrives.
AI Tutor
Your AP English Language test is over and your report is open: pick a mistake on your results page and the AI Tutor starts from there. It asks you the question and writes the steps out on the board, so you find where you went wrong rather than being handed the answer. The first 2 mistakes are free, for up to 10 minutes.

How it compares with the real AP English Language exam

Adaptation

Not adaptive, like the real exam: everyone who sits a given test answers the same questions.

Interface and tools

  • Every part timed in the exam's order, with the 10-minute break after Section I
  • Mark for Review, the option eliminator and a Check Your Work page
  • Highlights and notes on passages and free-response prompts
  • Free-response answers typed, as in Bluebook

Scoring and differences

Multiple-choice answers are marked at hand-in. Each free-response answer gets an automated estimate against the question's scoring guidelines, row by row. The report weights them as the exam does and converts the composite to an estimated AP score from 1 to 5 with our estimated cut-offs, because College Board publishes none. It is not a College Board score.

  • The 1–5 score is an estimate: College Board does not publish the composite needed for each score.

Questions

How many times can I take each AP English Language practice test?

Each test can be sat up to 2 times. If you close the tab in the middle of a sitting, your answers are saved and the same sitting resumes when you return.

Are the free-response answers typed?

Yes. As in Bluebook, you type every free-response answer, and it is estimated against the question's scoring guidelines when you hand the test in.

Is the score official?

No.

Is there a free AP English Language test?

Yes. There is one free full-length test in the same format as the paid tests. You only need a free account to take it.

How long does access last?

Published practice tests you buy stay available on your account for 12 months from the date of purchase. Tests sold before publication open automatically once enough new tests are published to fill the remainder of your pack; their 12 months of access start on the day they open. Nothing renews and nothing is charged again.

Can I get a refund?

Practice tests, question banks and AI Tutor time are digital content. You can ask for a refund of a digital product you have not used within 14 days of the payment date. A product counts as used once any practice test in the pack has been started, any question in a paid section of the question bank has been opened, or any second of AI Tutor time has been used; a used product is not refunded. If you are charged twice by mistake, contact us and the duplicate charge is refunded.
