When to take full-length practice tests

How many full-length practice tests to take, how often, and what to do between them so each one teaches you something new.

Checked against official sources on 22 September 2026.

Full-length tests measure where you stand and build the stamina to keep concentrating to the end. They do not, on their own, raise a score: the work between tests does.

A pattern that works

  • One test at the start, to find your starting point and your weakest areas.
  • Then one every one to two weeks during active preparation, with targeted practice in between.
  • One or two in the final weeks, in test-day conditions: same time of day, full length, no pauses.

Make each sitting count

  • Sit it in one go, with the real timing, on the kind of device you will use on test day.
  • Review it within a day, while you remember why you chose each answer.
  • Do not take the next one until you have worked on what the last one showed.
